திருப்பாவை பாசுரம் / Pasuram 22 - 24

22. The girls have approached as Kings,
         shedding their ego and to do menial Service.

திருப்பாவை பாசுரம் 22
அங்கண் மா ஞாலத்து அரசர் அபிமான
     பங்கமாய் வந்து நின் பள்ளிக் கட்டிற்கீழே
சங்கமிருப்பார் போல் வந்து தலைப்பெய்தோம்
     கிண்கிணி வாய்ச் செய்த தாமரைப் பூப்போலே
செங்கண் சிறுச் சிறிதே எம்மேல் விழியாவோ
     திங்களும் ஆதித்தியனும் எழுந்தாற்போல்
அங்கண் இரண்டுங்கொண்டு எங்கள் மேல் நோக்குதியேல்
     எங்கள் மேல் சாபம் இழிந்து ஏல் ஓர் எம்பாவாய்

அம் - அழகிய; மா - பெரிய; ஞாலத்துக்கண் - பூமியிலுள்ள;
அபிமான பங்கமாய் - அகங்காரம் குலைந்து, நீங்கி, ஆசைகளை நீக்கி;
சங்கம் - கூடி, திரண்டு; தலைப்பெய்தோம் - அணுகினோம்; கிண்கிணி - சலங்கை;
சாபம் - துக்கம், வருத்தம், பாபம்; இழிந்து - மறைந்து, அழிந்து;

Pasuram 22 - English Translation

Beneath Thy bedside have we gather'd
     As kings on this large handsome earth
Would crowd around, sans ego;
     Wouldst Thou glance at us, with Thy
Eye, a la ankle trinket, lotus blooming,
     Sun and moon awake at a time in mirth!
If Thou glimpse with eyes two beautiful,
     By little and little on us tarnish'd
     Sin and curse shall vanish
     From we the girls vanquish'd;
     Listen and consider, our damsel.

23. Krishna is requested to sit down on a throne and
         inquire about their grievances.

மாரிமலை முழைஞ்சில் மன்னிக் கிடந்து உறங்கும்
     சீரிய சிங்கம் அறிவுற்றுத் தீவிழித்து
வேரி மயிர்ப்பொங்க எப்பாடும் பேர்ந்து உதறி
     மூரி நிமிர்ந்து முழங்கிப் புறப்பட்டுப்
போதருமா போலே நீ பூவைப் பூவண்ணா உன்
     கோயில் நின்று இங்ஙனே போந்தருளி, கோப்புடைய
சீரிய சிங்காசனத்திலிருந்து, யாம் வந்த
     காரியம் ஆராய்ந்து அருள் ஏல் ஓர் எம்பாவாய்

மாரி - மழைக் காலம்; முழைஞ்சு - குகை;
மன்னி - பொருந்தி; (பேடையொடு) நிலைப்பெற்று, தங்குதல்;
வேரி - பிடரி; பொங்கி - எழுந்த; சிலிர்த்து எப்பாடும் - எல்லா பக்கமும்;
பேர்ந்து - முறித்து, அசைத்து, மூரி - கம்பீரமாக; போதருமா போலே - வருவது போலே;
பூவைப்பூ வண்ணா - காயம்பூ போன்ற நீலநிறம் உள்ளவனே; கோப்பு - அழகு, வேலைப்பாடு;

Pasuram 23 - English Translation

As would a fierce lion in a mountain den
     Stay along in winter, lie asleep gang with,
Enlighten'd, open eye, emit fire, mane erect
     Stretch in all direction; Oh! Bilberry-hued;
Thou shalt roar! Start with a bang,
     This ward move from Thy temple forthwith,
Settle on carved out throne exquisite,
     We have come unto Thee to woo;
     Ponder over our requisite;
     Bestow grace, the desire implicit
     Listen and consider, our damsel.

24. His feet, energy, glory, generosity, nobility, bravery and
         spike are hailed.

அன்று இவ்வுலகம் அளந்தாய் அடிபோற்றி
     சென்றங்குத் தென்னிலங்கை செற்றாய் திறல் போற்றி
பொன்றச் சகடமுதைத்தாய் புகழ் போற்றி
     கன்று குணிலா வெறிந்தாய் கழல் போற்றி
குன்று குடையா வெடுத்தாய் குணம் போற்றி
     வென்று பகை கெடுக்கும் நின்கையில் வேல் போற்றி
என்றென்றுன் சேவகமே ஏத்திப் பறை கொள்வான்
     இன்றுயாம் வந்தோம் இரங்கு ஏல் ஓர் எம்பாவாய்

தென்னிலங்கை - அழகிய இலங்கை, தெற்கிலுள்ள இலங்கை;
செற்றாய் - ஜெயித்தாய், அழித்தாய்; பொன்ற - கட்டுக் குலையும் படி, அழியும் படி;
குணிலாய் - எறிதடியாய், கன்று வடிவில் வத்ஸாசுரன், விளாமர வடிவில் கபித்தாசுரன்;
சேவகம் - வீர்யம், லீலா விபூதி, ஏவியதை செய்வது, குற்றேவல்;
சகடம் - சக்கரம், சகடாசுரன்; கழல் - கால், காலணி, ஆபரணம்; ஏத்தி - புகழ்ந்து, பாடி;

Pasuram 24 - English Translation

All-hail, Thy foot meted this earth thence;
     All-hail, Thy energy went thither, conquered Lanka South;
All-hail, Thy glory kick'd the wheel to ruins;
     All-hail, Thy foot the calf, as a throw-stick toss'd;
All-hail, Thy generosity held the hillock an umbrella;
     All-hail, Thy spike won and shatter'd hostile uncouth
And so on singing Thy bravery,
     Revering Thy laurel factual,
     To obtain the desire auspicious
     Have come this day, we ambitious
     Yield! listen and consider our damsel.
